Build quality is solid for its segment. We specifically checked panel fit after riding the ring road sections near Balkhu and Kalanki where road surfaces break and vibrate — no rattles, no flex in the body panels. The switchgear feels durable and responsive.

The projector LED headlight is not just a styling feature. On our evening ring road ride, the focused beam lit the road better than a standard reflector LED headlight. On the darker sections near Balkhu bridge at night, the difference was clear and genuinely useful for safety.

One honest note on design — the 12-inch wheels make the scooter look slightly compact compared to the Xoom 125R FI which runs 14-inch wheels. This is not a problem for a 110cc city scooter, but if you park next to a Xoom 125R FI or a Honda Dio 125, the size difference is visible.

Compared to the Honda Dio 110, the Xoom 110 looks sportier and more modern. The Dio 110 looks cleaner and simpler. Both are well-built — it comes down to personal preference on styling.

The 110.9cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine making 8.05 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 8.7 Nm at 5,750 rpm is a city-tuned motor. It does not try to be exciting. It tries to be smooth, predictable, and efficient — and it succeeds at all three.

Daily commute — Kalanki to Koteshwor ring road:

We rode this route for five days during morning peak hours. The Xoom 110 VX in stop-start traffic is genuinely easy to ride. Fuel injection means the scooter starts within a second every morning — no warming up, no cold start hesitation, no rough idling at traffic lights.

CVT automatic transmission makes city traffic effortless. No clutch to worry about, no gear changes. In the heavy traffic near the Kalanki junction where you are stopping every 30 seconds, the scooter just moves with you — open throttle, go, close throttle, stop. Simple and stress-free.

From a standstill at traffic lights, the Xoom 110 pulls away with confidence. 0–40 km/h feels quick and clean. 40–60 km/h is smooth. Above 60 km/h acceleration slows — the engine is tuned for efficiency not speed, which is exactly right for a 110cc city commuter.

Ring road at 50–65 km/h:

This is the Xoom 110's comfort zone. In fourth gear equivalent at 55–60 km/h, the engine is relaxed, fuel consumption is at its best, and the scooter feels planted. Vibration at this speed is minimal — noticeably less than carbureted 110cc scooters.

At 75–80 km/h on the open ring road stretch, the Xoom 110 gets there but sounds like it is working. The engine note changes character above 70 km/h. For occasional higher speeds it is fine. For sustained 80 km/h+ riding, it is not the right scooter.

Balkhu to Dakshinkali uphill:

The 18 km climb from Balkhu to Dakshinkali is a real test. With single rider, the Xoom 110 VX maintained 40–50 km/h on moderate inclines and dropped to 30–35 km/h on the steeper sections near Chobar. It climbed the full route without drama but without spare power either.

With pillion on the steeper sections — the scooter dropped to 25–28 km/h. The engine coped but it was clearly working near its limit. If you regularly ride hilly routes with a pillion, the Xoom 125R FI is a more comfortable choice. For solo riding on hills, the Xoom 110 manages.

Fuel injection at altitude and in all weather:

This is where fuel injection genuinely helps. Cold Kathmandu mornings at 1,400 metres above sea level, hot pre-monsoon afternoons in the Terai, varying fuel quality from different pumps — the FI system handles all of it consistently. No flat spots, no hesitation, no need for manual choke adjustment that carburetor scooters require.

At 108 kg, the Xoom 110 VX is light and easy to handle. This is the scooter's strongest quality for Nepal's urban riding.

City maneuverability:

The 1.6-metre turning radius allows clean U-turns on narrow Kathmandu roads. In the tight lanes of Ason, around the parking areas near Baneshwor, in the congested Newroad area — the Xoom 110 moves through all of it without stress. Lighter than the Honda Dio 110 (103 kg vs 108 kg — very similar) and easy to push manually when parking.

The 770 mm seat height is accessible for most riders. Riders above 5'2" will flat-foot comfortably. Shorter riders at 5' or below may find single-foot balancing at traffic lights necessary, but the scooter's light weight makes this manageable.

Ergonomics:

Upright riding posture is natural and relaxed. Handlebar position, footboard space, and seat cushion work together comfortably for 30–60 minute daily commutes. For longer rides above 90 minutes, the seat cushioning shows its limits — typical for a 110cc city scooter.

12-inch wheels — honest assessment:

The 12-inch wheels (90/90-12 front, 90/100-10 rear — wait, the specs show 90/90-12 front and 90/100-10 rear) are standard for a 110cc scooter. They work perfectly well on smooth tarmac and normal city roads. On the rough broken patches common in Kathmandu's older residential areas, you feel the road surface more than you would on 14-inch wheels. This is not a problem for typical urban use. It is only noticeable when you ride back to back with a 14-inch scooter on the same road.

Suspension:

Front telescopic fork handles small bumps and city potholes well. Speed breakers at moderate speed are absorbed cleanly. The rear unit swing suspension is not adjustable — there is no preload adjustment unlike the Xoom 125R FI. This means the factory tuning has to work for all riders and all loads. It is set for a balance between solo and pillion use, which means it is not perfectly soft for solo city riding or perfectly firm for loaded pillion riding. It is a reasonable compromise.

On the Dakshinkali road's broken sections near Chobar, the suspension managed adequately at city speeds. On sharp potholes at 50+ km/h, you feel it clearly.

Front disc + rear drum with IBS:

The IBS (Integrated Braking System) links front and rear braking — press the rear brake and some force automatically goes to the front as well. For daily Kathmandu riding where sudden stops happen constantly — pedestrians stepping out near Ratnapark, vehicles cutting in at Thapathali junction, bikes stopping suddenly on the ring road — this linked braking gives more stable, shorter stops than rear-brake-only systems.

In our ring road testing from 60 km/h to a stop, the braking was progressive and stable. No drama, no wheel skid. The front disc provides confident bite, the IBS distributes the workload sensibly.

Rear drum vs rear disc:

The VX variant has a rear drum. The ZX variant — if you want to compare — also has a rear drum. Neither Xoom 110 variant currently offers a rear disc option. For city riding and normal speeds, the drum rear combined with IBS is adequate. For riders doing frequent long downhill descents like Daman or Nagarkot, a rear disc would provide better fade resistance.

Ground clearance at 155 mm:

This is the one spec that deserves honest attention for Nepal. 155 mm is slightly lower than the Xoom 125R FI (164 mm) and lower than the Honda Dio 125 (171 mm). On most Kathmandu roads and speed breakers, 155 mm is fine. On the more aggressive speed breakers in some residential areas — the very tall ones common outside some schools in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur — you need to approach at an angle or slow significantly to avoid scraping. It is manageable but requires more awareness than higher ground clearance scooters.

The uphill mileage drop is significant — the engine works hard on climbs and fuel consumption increases accordingly. On flat city roads, 47–50 km/l is a realistic daily average.

Fuel tank and practical range:

The 5.2-litre tank at 47 km/l average gives approximately 240–260 km per tank. For a Kathmandu commuter doing 20 km daily, that is roughly 12–13 days between fuel stops — very practical.

Annual fuel cost comparison at 12,000 km/year and NPR 180/litre:

The fuel cost difference between the Xoom 110 VX and Honda Dio 110 is under NPR 1,000 per year — negligible. The Xoom 125R FI saves about NPR 2,700 per year over the Xoom 110 VX, which helps justify its NPR 56,000 higher price over approximately 20 years of riding. In practical terms, mileage is not the deciding factor between these scooters.

The external fuel lid is more useful than it sounds:

At a busy Kalanki petrol pump during morning rush, being able to open the fuel lid without lifting the seat — while staying seated or standing beside the scooter — saves real time and hassle. Underseat storage in real life:

Heat management:

After 40 minutes in slow ring road traffic on a warm May day, the air-cooled engine remained at normal temperature. No heat discomfort for the rider. The fan-cooled setup manages city traffic heat adequately.
